The garage is often the last space we think about updating.

The rooms inside get fresh paint, new furniture and attention. Meanwhile, the garage keeps its scuffed walls, unfinished drywall and marks from years of everyday use.

But a garage does not have to feel unfinished.

We recently shared a reel of our crew standing proudly in a freshly painted garage, and people loved it. It was a good reminder of how much difference this overlooked project can make.

More Than Somewhere to Park

For many homeowners, the garage is the entrance they use every day.

It might also be a workshop, home gym or the place where weekend projects happen.

Painting the walls and ceiling can make it feel more welcoming and better cared for, without a full renovation.

Preparation Makes the Difference

Garage walls often have holes from old shelving, damaged corners, visible drywall seams or patches that were never painted.

Before painting, we look at what needs attention.

That may include:

  • Cleaning dust and cobwebs
  • Repairing holes and damaged drywall
  • Addressing loose drywall tape
  • Sanding repaired areas
  • Priming bare drywall and repairs
  • Painting the walls, ceiling and any included trim or doors

Any active moisture problem should be corrected before repairs and painting begin.

It may be a garage, but the preparation still matters.
